HomeMy Public PortalAbout1970_07_10SPEC WAIVER OF NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING July 10 , 1970 We, the undersigned, being members of the Town Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, do severally waive all statutory and Charter requirements as to notice of time , place and purpose of a Special Meeting of the Town Council, and consent that the meeting shall be held in the Council Chambers of the Town Council at 11 :30 A.M. , Friday, July 10, 1970, for the purpose of considering the items listed below: 1. A Special Meeting of the Leesburg Town Council was held in the Council Chambers , 10 West Loudoun Street, Leesburg, Virginia , on July 10, 1970 at 11:30 A.M. Present were Mayor Kenneth B. Rollins , Councilmen G. Dewey Hill, Frederick R. Howard, John W . Pumphrey and John A. Wallace, Jr. ; also Town Manager James W. Ritter, Jr. and Town Attorney George M. Martin. Absent from the meeting were Councilmen Walter F. Murray and Robert A. Orr. , • The Waiver of Notice of this Special Meeting is attached hereto t and is signed by all members present . On motion of Councilman Howard, seconded by Councilman Hill , the following Ordinance was offered for discussion: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council for the Town of Leesburg, Vir- ginia, that Chapter 22 , Sec . 22-1. of the Code of the Munici- pality of Leesburg, Virginia be and the same is hereby amended and re-enacted as follows : Subsequent to the word "vehicle," in the second paragraph, :.0 insert the words "designed or. " C Councilman Howard said there seems to be a question as to when a trailer nat is a trailer . The State Law, in 1966 , included the word "designed, " ' which defines a trailer for travel over roads , regardless of whether the wheels are taken off. Councilman Wallace questioned whether the Zoning Ordinance should be amended as well . Town Attorney Martin recommended that it should be done , but not immediately. Mr. Forbes suggested that Council make some mention to the Planning Commission that this is needed and suggest that the Commission start the wheels rolling for such an amendment . Mayor Rollins instructed Mr. Forbes to bring this matter up at the next Planning Commission meeting. The above Ordinance was then unanimously adopted.
