Special Session
January 4, 1993
The Greencastle Common Council met in special session of Monday, January 4, 1993 at 4:30
p.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom. On call of the roll the following members were shown to be
present: Councilor Tom Roach, Councilor Sue Murray, Councilor Charles Miles. Councilors Mike
Rokicki and Jerry Calbert were absent. Also present were city attorney John Zeiner and city engineer
Joe Woody.
Mayor Harmless administered the oaths of office to Mr. Joseph L. Woody as city engineer and
Mr. John R. Zeiner as city attorney.
Councilor Murray explained that organization included the election of Council president and
appointment to the following boards; plan commission, Greencastle Development Center, and 2000
x 2000 tree committee. A letter from Councilor Rokicki expressed his support for the nomination
of Councilor Murray as president and his wish to decline appointment to the GDC Board, having
served in that capacity since its inception.
Councilor Murray suggested that the board appointments be postponed until all council
members are present. With consensus on that suggestion, Councilor Roach moved to nominate
Councilor Murray as president. Councilor Miles seconded the motion and it was carried. Councilor
Roach then moved the nominations be closed. Councilor Miles seconded the motion and it was
carried. Councilor Murray was declared president of the Greencastle Common Council for the year
1993.
With no further business, Councilor Murray moved for adjournment. This motion was
seconded by Councilor Roach, was carried by an aye unanimous vote of members present, and the
meeting was adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
