HomeMy Public PortalAbout1977_07_21SPEC allE MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF LEESBURG TOWN COUNCIL, JULY 21, 1977 263 A special meeting of the Leesburg Town Council was held in the Council Chambers, 10 West Loudoun Street,' Leesburg, Virginia on July 21 , 1977 . The meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 8: 22 P.M. Present were Mayor Mary Anne Newman, Councilmembers Charles E: Range, Glen P. Cole, Stanley D. Herrell , Jr.,, James A. Rock and John W. Tolbert, Jr. ; also Town Manager John Niccolls. Absent was Council- member C. Terry Titus. All members present acknowledged having received proper notice of this special meeting. 77-131 - Resolution - Authorizing purchase of land and rights-of-way for the extension of South Harrison Street. On motion of Mr. Bange, seconded by Mr. Tolbert, the following resolution was proposed and adopted by a vote of 5 to 1 : RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, Virginia, as follows : SECTION I. The Manager is authorized and directed to pur- chase, on behalf of the Town, a certain tract of land of ap- proximately 38, 174 square feet owned by Leesburg Grain and Feed Co. , Inc. and/or Herbert Bryant Associates in the Town M and shown on a plat made by Loudoun Engineering and Surveys, '--4 Inc. on March 7 , 1973 and updated March 5, 1977, for $60, 000.00 t cash for a good and proper deed approved by the Town Attorney, S provided a good and proper deed for release of all rights-of- way over the land is secured from Harry Sollars as provided below. SECTION II. Harry Sollars shall be paid $500. 00 for release of rights-of-way over Herbert Bryant Associates land at the same time a good and proper deed is delivered to the Town by Leesburg Grain and Feed Co. , Inc. and/or Herbert Bryant Associates. I . SECTION III. An appropriation in the amount of $60, 500. 00 is hereby made to Account No. 10110. 808, South Harrison Street Extension, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1978. Aye: Councilmembers Bange, Cole, Herrell , Tolbert and Mayor Newman. . Nay: Councilmember Rock.
