1996- 02 -01. Special Called Council Meeting
Mayor Walter Parker called the meeting to order with the
following members of Council present: Mallory Pearce, Michael
Hosti, Mariann Wildi, Ed Merves, Bill Remeta, and Jack Youmans.
For the law firm City Attorney Dana Braun was present to
represent the City in any legal issue. The subject for the
meeting is to appoint an acting City Manager.
Councilmember Mariann Wildi moved to appoint James P.
Locklear as Acting City Manager until the March Council meeting.
Councilmember Pearce seconded. Councilmember Youmans stated that
we already have a person with 30 days into the job and we need to
extend her for another 30 days. Councilmember Remeta said this is
no reflection on Rowena, but there are some lose ends in the
City. He stated that Ro has done a good job as acting City
Manager, but Ro is hesitant to do things because of personal
feelings. Mayor Parker said this is totally uncalled for, Ro is
doing an adequate job. Councilmember Remeta said that this will
speed up the process of hiring the full time City Manager.
Councilmember Merves asked Mayor Parker how did he see this as a
problem. Mayor Parker answered that this will disrupt City Hall.
Mrs. Fripp said that she will ask for a leave of absence. This is
embarrassing and it will upset the staff. Councilmember Wildi
called for the question. Councilmember Pearce seconded. Vote on
the question was 5 in favor (Pearce, Hosti, Wildi, Merves,
Remeta); 1 opposed (Youmans). Vote by Council on the main motion
was 5 in favor (Pearce, Hosti, Wildi, Merves, Remeta); 1 opposed
(Youmans).
Mayor Parker closed the meeting.
