Public Hearing
• June 8, 1993
The City of Greencastle conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, June 8, 1993 at 7:15 p.m. at
Tzouanakis Intermediate School in regard to the establishment of a Cumulative Fire Equipment Fund
pursuant to I.C. 36 -8 -14, Present for the hearing: Mayor harmless; City Engineer Joe Woody; City
Attorney John Zeiner, Clerk- Treasurer Judith Berry; Councilors Sue Murray, Charles Miles, Tom
Roach, Jerald D. Calbert, Mike Rokicki. Also present were Eric Bernsce, Bob Breese, Barbara Lane,
James Phipps, Robert Marvel, Lois Stuart, Thelma Bumgardner, James Harvey Young.
Mayor Harmless explained that the Cumulative Fire Equipment Fund lies within the maximum
levy of the city and represents no additional tax levy. hie continued that it is the intent of the city
to accumulate funds towards the purchase of fire equipment and plan for future needs. Mayor
Harmless asked for any and all comments or questions. A question was asked concerning why the
purchase could not be made out of the regular budget. The clerk - treasurer explained that the fund
is designed to accumulate funds toward major equipment purchase such as a new pumper which could
cost $200,000.00 to $250,000.00 and that kind of purchase could not be made in a single budget year.
There being no further questions, the public hearing was adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
