November 17-24, 2001
WHEREAS The United States Congress and the President of the United States,as
a means to encourage wholesome family life,traditionally proclaim
the week in which Thanksgiving Day falls as"National Family
Week";
WHEREAS The family unit bonded by love,understanding,common interests and
endeavors is the basis of the strength of our community and nation;
WHEREAS Each individual's character, happiness and future success are largely
determined by the environment within the home. Families offer
direction by nurturing values and standards for excellence, and are
models for caring from birth through aging years;
WHEREAS Family love and solidarity provide each member of the family unit
the strength to face the stress and strain of everyday life and the
uncertainty of tomorrow;
WHEREAS It is fitting that official recognition be given to the importance of
family loyalties and ties as essential ingredients to the continued
strength and well-being of our city and our nation:
Taut, Whe'ate, 9, Eldon Hansen ,Mayor of the City of
Riverdale ,on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim the
week of November 17 through 24,2001 as

in the City of Riverdale and urge all family members to join together to
strengthen their home life through devotion, love, understanding and the
' enjoyment of working and living as a family unit.
