PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, The Relay for Life is a national signature event of the American Cancer
Society; and
WHEREAS, Participants in the Relay for Life represent cancer survivors and family,
friends and community members touched by Cancer in their lives; and
WHEREAS, Teams of people take turns walking, running or strolling around tracks in
Bettendorf Iowa and Moline, Rock Island, Galesburg, Geneseo, Kewanee,
and Monmouth, Illinois for an overnight event in support of the Relay for
Life; and
WHEREAS, A luminaria service at dusk will pay tribute to cancer survivors and loved
ones lost to cancer; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated volunteers have contributed their efforts to this worthy event
and citizens are urged to participate;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, I Eldon Hansen, by virtue of the authority
vested in me as the chief elected official of Riverdale, Iowa , do hereby proclaim
RIVERDALE , AS A RELAY FOR LIFE COMMUNITY,from August 13th through
August 14t, 1999.
