MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF LEESBURG TOWN COUNCIL, MAY 7, 1986.
A special meeting of the Leesburg Town Council was held on May 7, 1986 at
8:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 10 Loudoun Street, S.W. , Leesburg, Virginia,
pursuant to Waiver of Notice having been signed by six members of Council.
Present were: Mayor Robert E. Sevila, Councilmembers Charles A. Bos, Arl Curry,
Brian T. Kelley, John W. Tolbert, Jr. and Charles J. Williams ; also Town Mana-
ger Jeffrey H. Minor, Director of Planning, Zoning and Development Martha .
Semmes, Town Attorney George M. Martin and Deputy Town Attorney Deborah C. Welsh.
Absent from the meeting was Councilmember Marylou Hill.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Sevila. On motion, duly made and
seconded, Council voted unanimously to go into executive session to discuss legal
matters in accordance with Section 2. 1-344(a)(6) of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as
amended: '.
Aye: Councilmembers Bos, Curry, Kelley, Tolbert, Williams and Mayor
Sevila.
Nay: None.
Council reconvened, with no action taken.
A letter of resignation from Councilmember Marylou Hill, effective May 7,
1986, was read and accepted.
86-78 - RESOLUTION - APPOINTING JERRY S. PELKEY TO LEESBURG TOWN COUNCIL TO FILL
UNEXPIRED TERM OF MARYLOU HILL.
On motion of Mr. Bos, seconded by Mr. Kelley, the following resolution was
proposed and unanimously adopted:
WHEREAS, Councilmember Marylou Hill submitted her resignation to the Lees-
burg Town Council on May 7, 1986, effective immediately; and
WHEREAS, as a result of this resignation, a vacancy exists on the Town
Council ; and
WHEREAS, Jerry S. Pelkey was elected to a four-year term on the Town Coun-
cil of the Town of Leesburg at the general election held on May 6, 1986,
said term to become effective on July 1, 1986; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Leesburg desires to appoint
Jerry S. Pelkey to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mary-
lou Hill upon his qualification:
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia
as follows:
Jerry S. Pelkey is hereby appointed to fill the vacancy on the Town
Council, effective immediately, upon his qualification as required
by law.
Aye: Councilmembers Bos, Curry, Kelley, Tolbert, Williams and Mayor
Sevila.
Nay: None.
There being no further business, on motion duly made and seconded, the
meeting was adjourned. •
