SPEC l AL MEETING

CITY OF TEMPLE CITY
FEBRUARY 7, 1963
The Mayor called the special meeting of the City Council
to order at 8:10 A. M. and as this was a special meeting dispensed
with the usual formalities.
Roll Call:
PRESENT: Councilmen- Dickason, Fitzjohn, Merritt, Nunamaker,
Tyrell
ABSENT: Councilmen -None
ALSO PRESENT: City Manager Woollett
The Mayor brought up for discussion the pouring of the slab
for the picnic shelters at this time. The Council was advised that
as the park was having some other concrete work done at this time
there would be a saving of approximately $150. if this slab was pour-
ed while the equipment was already there. Following discussion the
Councilmen all agreed it was the best thing to do and will take
official action approving this on Monday night at the regular Council
meeting.
Mr. Fickes, architect for the new library, at this time pre-
sented to the Council the figures from the contractor covering the
costs of the change -over items already approved by the Council and
which were referred to the architect for cost figures. He advised
these figures had been studied and considered reasonable figures and
which Mr. Geller of the County and the County architect are all in
agreement that the approved seven items plus the basement plastered
should be done. The total figure for these is approximately
$42,393.25 which added to the base of $163,100. comes to $2.05,493.25
which allows a small buffer and which figure is within the budget.
Councilman Fitzjohn moved to approve this amount.to be added to the
base figure for the approved change -over items, Councilman Merritt
seconded, and tarried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen - Dickason, Fitzjohn, Merritt, Nunamaker, Tyrell
NOES: Councilmen -alone
ABSENT: Councilmen -None
Mr. Fickes advised he had received a letter from the con -
tractor stating he would do everything in his power to hold the origi-
nal schedule even considering the extra work involved with the change-
over orders, and requested that they be allowed an additional 14 days
even if they do not have to take advantage of them. Councilman
Dickason so moved, Councilman Nunamaker seconded, roll call vote ap-
proving the motion as follows:
AYES: Councilmen - Dickason, Fitzjohn, Merritt, Nunamaker, Tyrell
NOES: Councilmen -None
ABSENT: Councilmen -Hone
There Followed some discussion regarding entrance signs to
the City and it was agreed to consider this item at the regular Coun-
cil meeting on Febr. 11, 1963.
Councilman Fitzjohn moved to adjourn, Councilman Merritt
seconded, and carried, Council adjourned at 8 :20 A. M.
