Joint Meeting of the Landmarks & District Designation and Public Outreach Subcommittees
Record of Minutes
Date: September 6, 2018 Location: Village Hall CALL TO ORDER, ROLL CALL
Commissioner Hagen called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. Roll call was taken: Commissioners
Derrick, Hagen, Hendricksen, Olsen (5:07 p.m.), Rapp, and Chairman Bortel were present. Commissioners Barvian, Lucas, and Schmidt were absent.
Also, in Attendance: Jonathan Proulx, Director of Planning.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Hendricksen made a motion to approve the LDDC and Public Outreach Joint Meeting
minutes dated August 2, 2018. Second by Chairman Bortel. Voice Vote. All in favor. 0 opposed.
Motion carried 6-0.
Commissioner Derrick made a motion to approve the Special Historical Preservation Commission
Meeting minutes dated August 16, 2018. Second by Commissioner Hendericksen. Voice Vote. All in
favor. 0 opposed. Motion carried 6-0.
OLD BUSINESS
Letter of Agreement for Giambotta Pizza
Mr. Proulx provided an explanation on how the letter was executed between the Village and the applicant. Historic Guidelines Manual
Chairman Bortel stated the commission needs to start working on the manual again. Chairman Bortel stated, to save some money the commission can take their own pictures. Chairman Bortel stated Chapter
One is complete. Commissioner Derrick asked how many chapters the manual will have. Chairman
Bortel stated four chapters. Commissioner Derricks asked if the photos and typing is done for chapter One. Chairman Bortel confirmed photos and typing have been completed for Chapter One.
Preservation Watch List Chairman Bortel provided an update on the Watch List. Chairman Bortel suggested adding a section to
the list for proposed landmarks and reviewed the properties that would be listed in that section. Updates on Sanctuary Restaurant at Trolley Barn
Mr. Proulx provided a project update since he spoke with the owner recently.
Baci's
Mr. Proulx indicated that he is not sure if the property has sold. Mr. Proulx indicated that the most recent project he has heard was for a boutique hotel. Mr. Proulx stated the Village has advised any interested parties that the Village would not support a demolition request.
Revisit BTD in March 2019
Chairman Bortel suggested hosting the BTD Event in March to allow time for Commissioner Barvian to
look into the Continued Education Credits for realtors.
NEW BUSINESS Review Demolition Ordinance to assist within Historic Core Commissioner Hendericksen explained why he sent the Demolition Ordinance to the commission.
