REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF MEDINA
APRIL 3,1962
Meeting called to order by Mayor Scott at 8 PM. All members present.
Minutes of regular meeting of March 6,1962 weee read.Minutes corrected to read
Arthur Gertz, seconded motion to grant R VFW Building permit, not Harold Winterhalter,
Motion by Herb Arens to adopt minutes as corrected, Second by Harold Winterhalter,
Motion carried.
Motion by Harold Winterhalter to tableA acceptance of Chas Steinke bond until
sureties had been investigated for finacial responsiblity, second by Herb Arens,
motion carried
Motion by Arthur Gertz to put up a stop sign on #9 at Depot street in Hamel,
second by Herb Arens, motion carried.
Motion by Herb Arens to purchase six smudge pot type road flaers, second by
Harold Winterhalter, motion carried.
Report by Mayor Scott that the police reported water running across streets in
Medina Morningside addition, Leo Leuer stated that culverts were not necessary
as streets were designed to carry the water in this manner.
Action on street Imes in Hamel and Independence Beach NAME was postponed until
next regular meeting.
Mayor Scott repoeted on state censuse regarding housing in the Village and the
Orono Scho(bl District. An ordinance A covering rental property was discussed at
lenght. Motion by Harold Winterhalter to request the planning commission study
and recommend an ordinance covering rental property, second by Herb Arens, Motion
carried
Clerk reported that gasoline tax used in Policy vehicle was not subject to refund.
Clerk reported that Clara Reiser had complained=g That her snow plowing bill was
to high, Leo Leuer explained that the operation had taken 45 minutes as he had to
make a special trip. the council agreeded that the $5.00 charge was justified.
The question of putting up street signs was discussed, no action taken at this time
beceuse of large expenditures for snow removal. Council agreed that gravel will be
needed son almost all the roads this year. Mayor Scott suggested drafting an
ordinacnance regulating plowing snow on the village roads from driveways.
Tuttle claim for damages to sweet corn was discussed, F J Eckes stated that he would
assume the claim.
Building permit request from Alfred Dale was presented to the council, this permit
was for converting dwelling on State 55 to a 2 family dwelling, the planning
commission had instructed the building inspector to check the house, they had no
objection if the house complies with the ordinance. Motion by Harold Winterhalter
to grant a special use permit to Alfred Dale for remodeling house, second by
Herb Arens, motion carried. Vote on motion as follows: Arens, Winterhalter and Roehl,
yes, Scott, no, Gertz abstained.
Council discused a house in the Beach area w that was in an almost unliveable
condition, Mayor E Scott suggested that the health officer pay them a visit and
see what could by done.
