Subject: Alcohol ban ordinance
Dear Mayor, City Council and City Manager,
I am writing a letter in support of the upcoming ordinance on public consumption of alcohol. I believe that this
step to curb the "sport" of drinking alcohol on Tybee Island will improve the public's persona of the island. The
amount of trash generated by alcohol as well as the threat to law abiding citizens increases with each beverage
consumed. The recent traffic fatality and pier drowning are only two of many potentially lethal encounters that
alcohol has fueled. My hope is that the City Council will send a clear message that the status quo can not
continue. Thank you for your commitment to making Tybee Island a family friendly community.
