As part of the Tybee Clean Beach Volunteers, we see the result of consumption of alcohol on the beach as a significant driver of beach litter - in fact, beer cans cups, lids, and straws always rank in the top ten items collected. We believe alcohol contributes to increased cigarette litter, snack wrappers, styrofoam pieces, and other types of litter. We have no question that restricting alcohol consumption on the beach and in the festival zone will result in a material reduction in beach and street litter. As a triathlete. part of my training is running on the beach early mornings which I go from one end to the other end quite often. There is a noticeable difference in the trash on the beach between the area you are considering and the rest of the beach. It's sad to see how the current situation is affecting the environment that we should be protecting. Thank you for doing the right thing and restricting the open containers in the area under consideration. Best regards, Mark Reed 1515 Lovell Ave i
