DESIGNATED SPACES; VIOLATIONS AND PENALTIES", OF
CHAPTER 254 ENTITLED VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC. OF THE
CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Borough Council of the Borough of
Carteret, a municipal corporation of the State of New Jersey, located in Middlesex
County, thereof, as follows:
Section 1. §254-41, entitled "parking in designated spaces; violations and
penalties." of Chapter 254 of the Carteret Code entitled "VEHICLES AND
TRAFFIC" is hereby amended and supplemented to replace the existing
paragraph B thereof with the following:
B. For violations of this section, the offender shall be liable to a fine of two
hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) and, for subsequent offenses, a fine of
at least two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) and up to ninety (90) days'
community service on such terms and in such form as the court shall deem
appropriate, or any combination thereof.
Section 2. All Ordinances and/or provisions thereof inconsistent with the
provision of this Ordinance shall be and are hereby repealed as to the extent of
any such inconsistencies.
Section 3. If any section, subsection, part, clause or phrase of this Ordinance
shall be declared invalid by judgment of any Court of competent jurisdiction, the
section, subsection, part, clause or phrase shall be deemed to be severable from
the remainder of this Ordinance.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect upon passage and publication
according to applicable law.
