REGULAR MEETING OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF MEDINA
APRIL 4,1961
Meeting called to order at $:00 PM by Mayor Scott.
All council members present. Minutes of the regular meeting
of March 7,1961 were read. Motion by Arthur Gertz to adopt minutes
as read, second by Harold Winterhalter, motion carried.
Minutes of kthe special meeting of March 10,1961 were read, Motion
by Harold Winterhalter to adopt minutes as read, second by Herbert
Arens, Motion carried.
George Reiser's request for a culvert for his driveway was considered
Councilawas advised by Leo Leuer that the extension of the Reiser
road by the village caused his need for a culvert. Motion by Arthur
Gertz to install a culvert of 22 feet in lengbh at Village expense,
any additional length•of culvert to be paid for by George Reiser,
Second by Harold Winterhalter, Motion carried.
$ Motion by Herbert Arens to sell Tom Stevens a culvert at the
Village cost, second by Harold Winterhalter, Motion carried.
Mr. Erdman had no report on the recreation program for the Lake
Independence area other than that there is considerable interest
in such a program for this area.
Motion by Herbert Areas to grant the Hamel Athletic Club $200.00
for am use in maintaining the Memorial Athletic field, second by
Arthur Gertz, motion carried.
F. J. Eckes avpeared with a request for a abuilding permit for a
home. Motion by Arthur Gertz to grant F. J. Eckes almpermit to
build a home to replace present home, if located on the East side
of road it must be set back far enough to allow straigting of
road # 16, second by Herbert Arens, Motion carried.
Motion by Herbert Arens to grant F J Eckes a permit to move a
garage building from Plymouth village, Second by Harold Winterhalter,
motion carried.
Motion by Harold Winterhalter to put V.F.W. building permit on agenda
for next regular meeting, the Police department to make a study of
read condition in area, Second by Herbert Arens, Motion carried.
Question on rezoning Lots 2 and 3, Block 2, Hamel from commercial
to residential was discussed. Motion by Harold Winterhalter to grant
a special use permit to build a home, without rezoning Lots ? and 3,
Block 2, Hamel, second by Arthur Gertz, Motion carried, vote on
question was as follows, Ai4ens, Gertz, Winterhalter and Roehl, Yes,
Scott, No.
Motion by Harold Winterhalter that An Ordinance regulating the Keeping
of dogs, restraining their running at large, and authorizing their
impounding and sale or summary destruction, and to establish pounds,
be adopted as read, Seoond by Robert Roehl, motion carried, vote on
the question was as follows; Winterhalter, Roehl and Scott, yes,
Arens and Gertz, no.
Mayor Scott announced the appointment of Jack B Young as weed
inspector, for the year 1961.
Question of purchasing a load speaker for the policy car was discussed
cost of speaker to be $130.00. Motion by Harold Winterhalter to
purchase a load speaker for the police car, second by Robert Roehl,
Motion carried. Vote on the question was as follows, Arens, Winterhalter,
Scott and Roehl, yes, Gertz, no.
Question on complaints of junk yard operation on Vincent Dobozenski
property was discussed. Clerk was instructed to write Mr. Vincent
Dobozenska a registered letter notifing him that the Junk yard was
in violation of the village ordinances and that this yard must be
cleaned up by July 1,1961.
Motion by Harold Winterhalter to request the planning commission
to hold a public hearing in regard rezoning of the white area on the
zoning map to RA and R1, Second by Herbert Arens, motion carried.
The procurring of the road right of way for Village road $$ was
referred to the Road Committee.
Road Committee had no report, estimates for fixing of # $7 were to
be had by next meeting, also Winterhalter and Golf course road.
Police committee reported that calls had increase 200% since Police
car has been in operation.
Treasuere report, Previous balance $14,489.76, Reciepts $251.20,
Order checks issued $2,341.44, Payroll checks issued $683.47,
Present balance $11,716.05.
Motion by Harold Winterhalter to adjourn, Second by R Roehl, Motion
carried, Meeting adjourned at 11:30 PM.
