HomeMy Public PortalAbout1993_09_16481 · SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 16, 1993 A special meeting of the Leesburg Town Council was held on September 16, 1993, at 4:30 p.m., in the Town Manager's office, 25 West Market Street. Notice having been delivered to all members of the Council prior thereto. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the 1994 General Assembly Legislative Endorsements. ROLL CALL Councilmembers pre~ent Georgia W. Bange Ronald W. Blake Joseph R. Trocino Kristen C. Umstattd Mayor James E. Clem Staff members present Town Manager Steven C. Brown Deputy Town Manager Peter Stephenson Mr. Stephenson informed the Council that an October 4, 4:30 meeting with the legislators has been arranged. In addition to Mr. May, Ms. Brown, Delegate Mims and Senator Waddell, Councilmember Umstattd asked that we please invite candidate Chadwick. Mr. Stephenson summarized and handed out copies of his memo dated September 3, 1993. He and Mr. Brown both reviewed last year's endorsements with the Council. Of these items, the following were determined to be priority issues: D. Burned out structures, G. Right of early entry, A. Sales tax revenues, and I. Revenues from the sale of confiscated goods. Council further requested adding Chief Kidwell's request to the priority list, and requested further data or facts on disparities regarding revenue priority requests, such as sales tax received under present school age population formula vs. desired point of origin formula/basis. Lastly, the Council discussed traffic stop sign warrants and economic enterprise zone criteria. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:45 p.m. ames E. Clem, Mayor Town of Leesburg
