Technology Business of the Year Award
Leesburg-based Company Honored at 2009 Loudoun Chamber of
Commerce Annual Awards Ceremony
Leesburg, VA (November 17, 2009) – Leesburg-based Omnilert was named the
“Technology Business of the Year” at the 2009 Loudoun County Chamber of
Commerce Small Business Awards on November 5, 2009. Ara Bagdasarian,
President of Omnilert, accepted the award. During his acceptance speech, he
encouraged the audience to give back to the community by volunteering.
Mr. Bagdasarian said, “We, as small business leaders, must apply the principles of
entrepreneurship not only to our businesses, we must also apply entrepreneurship
to our community by working with nonprofit organizations and volunteering to
innovate in our communities.”
Mr. Bagdasarian himself volunteers for a number of local organizations. For two
terms now, he has been the Chairman for the Town of Leesburg’s Economic
Development Commission. He is also the current President of the Board of
Directors for the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he has served as a
volunteer coach for several of his son’s and daughter’s sports teams.
Competition for the awards was intense. There are nearly 1,300 businesses in the
Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce. More than 239 businesses were
nominated for the 2009 awards. All entries were judged by a blue-ribbon
committee of business leaders and industry experts.
