HomeMy Public PortalAbout036-1984 - SDTRICKEN - ORDINANCE REQUIRING PERSONS ENGAGED IN THE BUSINESS OF CLAIRVOYANT PALMISTRY FORTUNE TELLING OR BUSINESS OF LIKE NATUREORDINANCE NO. 36- 1984 AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING PERSONS ENGAGED IN THE BUSINESS OF CLAIRVOYANT; PALMISTRY, FORTUNE TELLING OR BUSINESS OF LIKE NATURE, TO PROCURE A LICENSE THEREFOR, PROVIDING A PENALTH FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PART OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH WHEREAS, the regulation and licensing of clairvoyant, palmistry, fortune telling and business of like nature.in the City of Richmond was repealed by the enactment of the Richmond City Code; and WHEREAS, it is the desire to re-establish the regulation and licensing of these businesses, NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, that SECTION I. It is hereby declared to be unlawful for any person to engage in the business of clairvoyant, palmistry, mind reader, fortune telling or business of like nature, in the City of Richmond, Indiana, without first procuring a license therefor, they shall state in their application for a license the definite location where they propose to engage in business in the City. SECTION 2. The license for engaging in the business set forth in Section 1 of this ordinance, must be procured from the City Controller of the City of Richmond, Indiana, upon the payment of the cost thereof as follows, to -wit: For one day $5.00, for one week, $25.00, for one month $75.00, for one year $150.00. SECTION 3. Any person found guilty of violating any of the provisions of this ordinance, shall be fined the sum of $25.00, payable in the Office of the City Clerk for the City of Richmond. SECTION 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance, are hereby repealed. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, this day of , 1984.
