HomeMy Public PortalAbout1994_05_17SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES OF MAY 17, 1994 A special meeting of the Leesburg Town Council was held on May 17, 1994, at 5:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers and 6:00 p.m., in the second floor Councilmember's meeting room, 25 West Market Street, Leesburg, Virginia. Notice having been delivered to all members prior thereto. The purpose of the 5:00 p.m., meeting was to consider a sign application and the purpose of the 6:00 p.m., meeting was to conduct interviews for the Balch Library Advisory Commission. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Clem. Councilmembers present at the 5:00 p.m. meeting Mayor James E. Clem George F. Atwell Georgia W. Bange R. W. Blake (absent) Joseph R. Trocino Kristen C. Umstattd William F. Webb Staff members present Town Manager Steven C. Brown Zoning Administrator Scott Johnson Clerk of Council Barbara Messinger Mr. Johnson addressed the Council stating that the Board of Architectural Review considered this request on May 16 and approved it subject to the lettering being red channel lettering. Mr. Johnson stated that he talked with Mr. Miller today and believes that a compromise can be reached by allowing the red channel lettering with the torn blue and yellow ticket a Block Buster Video's logo. Mr. Johnson encouraged this compromise stating that it is a good solution. Mr. Randy Minchew, representing the Fried Companies of Prosperity Center, addressed the issue commending Mr. Johnson for his efforts in bringing a resolution to this issue. Mr. Charles Kieler, with the Fried Companies, also thanked Mr. Johnson for his good work. This matter was referred to the BAR for further consideration. On motion of, and duly seconded, the meeting was adjourned at 5:20 p.m. Councilmembers present at the 6:00 p.m. meeting Mayor James E. Clem George F. Atwell Georgia W. Bange (absent) R. W.
