AWARDING CONTRACT FOR 2003 ROAD
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret has publicly advertised for the receipt of
bids for the 2003 Road Improvements Program; and
WHEREAS, the Borough has solicited and received 3 bid proposals for the
required road improvements as follows:

1. DeFino Contracting Co., Cliffwood Beach, NJ $ 447,884.80
2. Star of the Sea Concrete Corp., Old Bridge, NJ $ 414,444.00
3. Intercounty Paving, Hackettstown, NJ $ 471,847.65
WHEREAS, Star of the Sea Concrete Corp., Old Bridge, New Jersey has
submitted the lowest bid for said contract as evidenced by the response on file
with the Borough's Purchasing Department and with the Borough Engineer; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Engineer has reviewed the above bid proposals and has
recommended the award of a contract to Star of the Sea Concrete Corp. for Base
Bid Proposal "A" with the deduct alternate along with Proposal "C" and the add
alternate for sanitary sewer rehabilitation work for the total amount of
$414,444.00; and
WHEREAS, the Chief Financial officer has certified that funds are or will be
available for said purpose.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret as follows:
1. That the appropriate Borough Officials are hereby authorized to
enter into a contract with Star of the Sea Concrete Corp., Old Bridge, New
Jersey for the 2003 Road Improvements Program pursuant to the
Engineer's recommendation of award, a copy of which is attached hereto
and made a part of hereof, for the sum of $414,444.00, in accordance in all
respects with the request for proposals and bid on same.
2. That a copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Borough's
Purchasing Department, Borough Engineer and Borough Attorney.
Adopted this 16th day of October, 2003
and certified as a tree copy of the
original on October 17, 2003.
