A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY,
CALIFORNIA, AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE COLLECTION AND
DISPOSAL OF GARBAGE AND OTHER REFUSE
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Temple City, California,
finds and determines that garbage and other refuse will be and be-
come a nuisance within the City of Temple City, unless adequate and
IIproper provision for the removal and disposition thereof is made by
the City Council; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to existing provisions of law, effective
October 1, 1957, the burning of combustible trash by householders
in single- chamber incinerators and open fires is prohibited; and
WHEREAS, the public health, safety, welfare and convenience
require that proper, adequate and immediate provisions be made for
the collection and disposal thereof; and
WHEREAS, Community Disposal Company, a California corpora-
tion, has submitted a proposal dated July 20, 1960, which is on file
with the City Clerk, and which is hereby incorporated herein by
reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Temple City that the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into
a contract on behalf of the City of Temple City between the City of
Temple City and Community Disposal Company, a California Corporation,
wherein and whereby the City of Temple City grants to said Community
Disposal Company the sole and exclusive right and franchise to pick
up, gather and remove garbage, rubbish and combustible trash within
and from the City of Temple City, exclusive of places and buildings
occupied by or operated for business or industrial pursuits, for

and during the term of ten years, commencing August 8, 1960, and
ending August 7, 1970. Said contract shall further provide that said
Community Disposal Company shall undertake to furnish the necessary
labor, and vehicles required, all as more specifically set forth in
said contract, for and during said term; said contract shall be upon
terms and conditions not less favorable to the City of Temple City
than those contained in said proposal.
The foregoing resolution was adopted at a regular meeting
of the City Council of the City of Temple City on August 8, 1960,
by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Buchan, Dickason, Merritt & Fitzjohn
NOES: Councilmen: Tyrell
ABSENT: Councilmen: None
