BOARD OF DIRECTORS
MIDPENINSULA REGIONAL OPEN SPACE DISTRICT
Wednesday, June 2, 2021
The Board of Directors conducted this meeting in accordance with California Governor
Newsom’s Executive Order N-29-20. All Board members and staff participated via
teleconference.

REGIONAL OPEN SPACE DISTRICT
President Riffle called the special meeting of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District to
order at 4:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Members Present: Jed Cyr, Larry Hassett, Karen Holman, Yoriko Kishimoto, Curt Riffle,
and Pete Siemens
Members Absent: Zoe Kersteen-Tucker
Staff Present: General Manager Ana Ruiz, General Counsel Hilary Stevenson, District
Clerk/Assistant to the General Manager Jennifer Woodworth, Public
Affairs Manager Kori Skinner
1. Exterior Banners for 5050 El Camino Real (R-21-70)
Public Affairs Manager Korrine Skinner provided an update on the project and reported the
Board’s previous direction to approve aluminum panels for the exterior of the building and these
aluminum panels are already a part of the construction contract approved by the Board of
Directors. Alternative options for the exterior panels were presented as part of the interpretive
plan and included metal cutout panels. If metal cutout panels are preferred, then this will incur
additional costs and a time delay for the project.
The Board expressed support for using the previously approved aluminum banners due to the
cost savings and ability to keep the project on schedule.
Director Siemens spoke in favor of the aluminum panels because they will allow for color to be
incorporated into the panels.

President Riffle commented on the additional flexibility allowed for by the aluminum panels.
Public comment opened at 4:12 p.m.
Ms. Woodworth reported no public comments were submitted.
Public comment closed at 4:12 p.m.
Motion: Director Kishimoto moved, and Director Siemens seconded the motion to proceed with
Option 1, designing external banners as aluminum panels as specified by the architect and
included in the awarded construction contract, with a printed graphic designed to simulate metal
cutouts as shown in reference images.
Director Kishimoto left the meeting at 4:14 p.m.

President Riffle adjourned the special meeting of the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula
Regional Open Space District at 4:16 p.m.
