Monday April 21, 2008
Mayor Royce Phillip's.called Work Session to order at 6:38pm at the Tiffin Fire Station
Meeting Room.
Roll Call of members present, Chris Ball, James Bartels, Mike Gericke, Mark Petersen,
and John Wright.
Motion Gericke seconded Petersen to approve Agenda.
Council members reviewed and discussed current Fence Ordinance within the adopted
2007 Zoning Ordinance and Design Standards. Council members discussed restricting
certain types of materials to be used in residential fencing. Members also suggested
including the language for continuing maintenance of fences. Discussion will continue
at future work sessions.
Discussion and review by council members on all current ordinances pertaining to
animals. Suggestions were discussed on inclusion of additional vicious animals restricted
within the city limits. Council members discussed updating procedures in handling and
processing stray or loose animals. Discussions will continue at future work sessions.
Council members discussed the need to implement a snowmobile ordinance. Members
agreed that guidelines need to be established to provide guidance to snowmobiles and
establish specific routes through the city limits. Further discussion will follow at future
work session.
Discussion by council members questioned the need to implement an Engine Brake
Ordinance within city limits. Suggested that revisions in the Noise Ordinance could
eliminate the need for a separate Engine Brake Ordinance. Council members will further
review and possibly take action at May 14;2008 regular city council meeting.
Gericke presented suggestions to council members on procedural changes in current
building permit procedures. Council members discussed the need to update current
Building=Inspections with new commercial development to start. Council members
suggested meeting with perspective building inspectors and take action at regular city
council meeting on May 14, 2008.
Motion Petersen seconded Gericke to adjourn at 8:15pm.
