Mayor Phillips called meeting to order at 6:30pm.
Council members present: Jim Bartels, Mark Petersen, John Wright. Absent:
Chris Ball and Mike Gericke.
Also present Attorney Steve Greenleaf, Engineer Doug Frederick, Bldg Inspector
Ed Johnson.
Residents present Dennis and Wenda Brown, Ralph Brown, Don and Shelia
Frickson, Tim Spivey, Rita Verry, and Steve Verry.
Motion Petersen seconded Wright to approve Agenda as written.
Mayor Phillips opened floor to residents regarding the planned Ireland Ave
extension from the railroad to Hwy 6. Engineer Frederick handed out information
regarding Iowa Department of Transportation planning guidelines and explained
the initial plans for the Ireland Ave extension. Attorney Greenleaf handed out
appraisal documents from MRS Appraisals to the residents.
Residents questioned all aspects of the Ireland Avenue extension. Suggestions
discussed on closing Railroad St., fencing and landscaping along the new street,
the need for sidewalks along new street, reducing speed on new street, and
possible stop lights on street.
Spivey suggested Public Hearing on new street. Motion Wright seconded
Petersen to set future City Council meeting as Public Hearing on Ireland Ave
Extension.
Motion Wright seconded Petersen to adjourn at 7:53pm.
