HomeMy Public PortalAbout19990722SCMeeting@ @ITEM 1999 -07 -22 City Council Minutes A special called meeting of the Tybee Island City Council was held on Thursday, July 22, 1999 at Tybee City Hall Auditorium. Mayor Parker opened the meeting at 6:00 p.m. for the sole purpose of awarding a bid for Lift Station #11 at Rosewood and Van Horn. The following members of the City Council were present: Dee Anderson, Michael Hosti, Ed Merves, Anne Monaghan and Mallory Pearce. Jack Youmans was absent. A bid abstract, a letter from the city engineers, and a memo from Bill Farmer were all accepted into the record, and a copy of each is attached to these minutes. George Reese, Water /Sewer Superintendent, was present to answer questions from the City Council. Mr. Reese explained that the pumps on Lift Station #11 failed 2 or 3 months ago, and that the station is very old and the dry well is not deep enough. He said the engineers have re- designed the lift station, and the city has bought the submersible pumps. The bids are for installation and labor, primarily. It was noted that this work was scheduled and budgeted for this fiscal year. The work will be accomplished a little sooner than planned due to the pump failure in April. Mallory Pearce moved to accept Bill Farmer's recommendation of the low bid of $74,300 from Andrews Mechanical and Sprinkler Company. Michael Hosti seconded. The motion passed by a vote of 5 — 0. The meeting was adjourned. Mayor Walter W. Parker Assistant City Manager Rowena B. Fripp 1 659 HUSSEY, GAY, BLL & CONSULTING ENGENE DEYOUNG, INC.
