A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TEMPLE CITY TENTATIVELY ESTAB-
LISHING TRUC ROUTES AND SETTING A PUB-
LIC HEARING RESPECTING SAME PRIOR TO THE
ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING
TRUCK ROUTES
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the
City of Temple City to establish truck routes through the City
of Temple City in the interest of public safety, and
WHEREAS, Government code Section 35705 requires, a
public hearing be held prior to the adoption of any ordinance
where weight limits are to be reduced upon city streets upon
which state highway funds are expended,.and
WHEREAS, the City of Temple City desires to limit
the weight load on all of its streets exclusively within the
jurisdiction of the City of Temple City, save and except certain
streets hereinafter set forth which are proposed to be used as
truck routes, now therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY, CALIFOR-
NIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City of Temple City does hereby de-
clare its intention to designate the hereinafter named streets,
all under the exclusive jurisdiction of the City of Temple City,
as the only truck route streets to be used in the City of Temple
City, all other streets not to be used by any trucks or motor
vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of three tons.
SECTION 2. When any such truck routes are estab-
lished by a duly enacted ordinance of the City of Temple City it
is proposed that the City Manager designate such streets or
street by appropriate signs as "Truck Routes" or by signs indi-
cating approval for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum
gross weight limit of three tons.
SECTION 3.. It is proposed that any ordinance adopted
provide the following:
"When any such truck route or routes are estab-
lished and designated by appropriate signs the
operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross
weight limit of three tons shall drive on such .
route or routes and none other except that nothing
in this section shall prohibit the operator of any
vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight of three
tons coming from a "Truck Route" having ingress
and egress by direct route to and from restricted
streets when necessary for the purpose of making
pickups or deliveries of goods, wares .and _mer-
chandise from or to any building or structure lo-
cated on such restricted streets or for the pur-
pose of delivering materials to be used in the
actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodel-
ing or construction_ of any building or structure
upon such restricted streets for which a building
permit has previously been obtained therefor.

"The provisions of this section shall not apply to
(1) passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the
Public Utilities Commission, or to (2) any vehicle
owned by a public utility while necessarily in use
in the construction, installation or repair of any
public utility."
SECTION 4. The proposed truck routes are as follows:
(a) Las Tunas Drive between the westerly City
limits and the easterly City limits.
(b) El Monte Avenue between Las Tunas Drive and
Lower Azusa Road.
(c) Lower Azusa Road between the westerly City
limits and the easterly City limits.
SECTION 5. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing
will be held February 14, 1961, at the hour of 8 :00 P. M.
at the meeting place of the City Council of the City of Temple City
located in the City Hall at 9664 East Las Tunas Drive, Temple City,
California, at which time the City Council of the City of Temple City
will consider the establishment of the truck routes set forth in
SECTION 4, above, and consider the limitation on all other streets in
the City of Temple City over which the City of Temple City has exclusive
jurisdiction of a maximum gross weight of three tons and shall further
consider all other matters set forth in this Resolution.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall cause a copy of this Re-
solution to be published once a week for four successive weeks in the
Temple City Times, the first publication to be made during the week
commencing December 5, 1960.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 28th day of November, 1960, by
the following called vote:
