@ @ITEM 2000 -07 -27 Closed Session City Council Minutes
Braun brought the Council up to date on Rusty Fleetwood's request to exchange
part of the north beach parking lot he owns for land that the City owns. Braun said that
they had heard from Fleetwood's attorney and he wishes to leave as is for now.
Braun said that Phil O'Dell is willing into an agreement and Hughes would like
for Council to authorize him to work on the agreement. Sessions said that the City has 2
options. One to let O'Dell be a part and the other is to lease for $2,200. a month. Burke
said that he has spoken to Chambers and Kluttz and they would like Council to appoint
another committee, as they do not want to be involved. Parker said that if you don't keep
O'Dell involved you don't know what would happen. O'Brien said that the Board agreed
to work with City on the project. O'Brien stated that she agrees that Hughes be allowed
to do what he thinks is best for the City. Youmans said that Council has already told
Hughes to come up with a proposal. Pearce said is this just to authorize Hughes to come
up with a proposal? Braun said that in the deed from Gerhart to O'Dell it states no
demolition — somebody needs to talk with Gerhart. Youmans said that Hughes told
Council that the deed part is nothing to do with Council. O'Brien stated that in the letter
from Hughes she did not see anything on the subject of the lease payments being applied
to the purchase price. Parker said this is a one -year lease with option to purchase. The
City would pay one -half of the $2,220 a month. Burke said that maybe a theater group or
actor or actress living on Tybee could help. Pearce mention maybe people from
Armstrong University could help. Burke said anybody with connections to money.
Youmans motion to reconvene regular session and to adjourn, as there was no further
business to come before Council.
Clerk of Council
Mayor Walter W. Parker
