Caitlin Browne, Assistant Director DATE: August 28, 2018 RE: Request to Approve Municipal ADA Improvement Grant Program Application The library will apply for a Municipal ADA Improvement Grant. These grants are awarded to projects that will support capital improvements specifically dedicated to improving programmatic access and/or removing barriers encountered by persons with disabilities. More information about the application process can be found at https://www.mass.Rov/haw-to/ancly-for-a-grant. We are requesting funds for two projects: 1. To extend the patio in the front of the library so that people with mobility devices can enjoy the tables and chairs (diagram attached). 2. To install automatic door openers for the Children's, Teen, and main entry doors in the Watertown Savings Bank Room to improve access for people with mobility impairments and devices. The application is due October 1. Currently the total cost for the projects with all available options is $28,780 (quotes attached). I am still waiting for quotes from two masons. The library will contribute funds to the project because applications with matching funds will score higher. The source and amount of the contribution will be decided when all quotes have been received and the final figure is determined. The application form is attached. You will notice there are many forms that the Town will need to supply. Steve Magoon has agreed to assist with locating the required documentation.
