Chairperson, Patrick Hill, Scotty Davenport, Todd Sholty were present.

Recreation Director was also present.
II. NEW GUEST — Gymnastics' Director Suzie Woodall.
III. NEW BUSINESS
- Council Meeting - Looked over information that will be presented to council on
September 12, 2002. Committee informed me that they would like to have
information about the skate park, gymnastics and River Front Park in the
presentation. Dave Faurot will be presenting information to the council.
- Talked about upcoming events — After School Program, when where, why and
how, swimming lessons in Sept, Swimming event on August 24 and a basketball
program for 3-4 and 5-6 grade kids.
-Informed the committee about having the Mayor present the recreation award
during the next council meeting. Also, informed the committee that the Star
News will be present to take pictures. I have talked with Ben at Star'News. He
will discuss putting a picture and information in the paper with the director of the
paper on Thursday.
- Discussed the update on the current recreation website. I have put in most of the
information to Dave Simmons. The council wants to put in the recreation
calendar to help inform the public.
-Discussed the improvement Fairway Park. We have the go ahead from Robert
and I have a meeting with Lakeland Fence Company on Friday to go over any
final details. After I put in for a purchase order work should begin shortly.
- Looked at the skate park and the concerns of committee. They would like to
have the skate park committee present some information to the recreation
committee. The committee has had little information about this issue and would
like to make sure the proper channels are used. I use the word channels as going
through the Recreation Committee before going to Council with any information.
- The committee would like a five year recreation comprehensive plan. They are
not sure how long this would take and are still looking at what direction to go
with this. This would include the construction of River Front Park. We believe
this is the future of McCall. I will be having meetings this week with the
Amphitheatre council. I am trying to get a member of the community for each
section i.e. Soccer, Amphitheatre, and Softball.
-Each member of the committee would like to have the Committee Charter to help
better explain their purpose.
- Informed the committee of the upcoming IRPA Conference that I will be
attending in late September. We discussed some of the events - skateboard parks,
what you should know, and marketing and promotion for rec programming. Also,
explained it will be a wonderful chance for networking and help find an intern for
the summer months.
- After School Program- Explained to council that we have 5 qualified individuals
who will be interview this week or next for the job as After School Program
Coordinator.
- Swim Program- Discussed the issue of having a $50 an hour rental fee and trying
to find a better or cheaper way to have this program for kids.
-Basketball Program — Would like to start a one or two team program for 3rd and
4t" grade girls and boys. These teams will play against Council, New Meadows
and Cascade. Should begin in January. Pal Salatory is our contact person for this
program. We would hope that this leads into bigger program and help expand not
only the recreation department basketball program but also the schools.
- Gymnastics Director Suzie Woodall presents her information to the committee
about new fees. Heartland would like to increase fees by $2.00 and remove the
start up fee of $18.00. This would help increase participants. The committee
voted and passed this idea. They would like to have a sibling discount. This
discount would allow other sibling to participate at a cheaper rate.
IV. OLD BUSINESS

1st, 2002. Also, discussed the softball tournament held on 27-28 of July and

now and working on getting the other two bids. Should start work in Sept.
-Looked at the construction of new a skate park and the concerns of committee
and myself. Want to make sure that the money that they would receive from the
city next year would not be given unless we knew exactly how that money would
be spent.
-The committee would like a five year recreation comprehensive plan. They are
not sure how long this would take and are still looking at what direction to go
