NEW BUSINESS Skate Park grant application Discussed how we have submitted the grant application for the Land and Water Grant. The grant application must be reviewed prior to being accepted to present to the Land and Water Committee. We should find out some time in March if we will be accepted to present. After School Program — US Bank Grant I have informed the committee that we are perusing the US Bank Grant in May to help provide the After School Program with funds. These funds can be used for more equipment to help with tutoring, supply money or new employees. Winter Special Olympics Discussed that I have been asked to be the MC for the closing ceremonies for the Winter Special Olympics. This is a wonderful opportunity to work with the Special Olympics in March and help with the relationship with the City of McCall and the Community. Ordering Equipment Informed the Committee that I am on track with order equipment for the improvement of Fairway Park. We have order Benches and fence safety equipment. More equipment is still necessary for improvement but we will wait until this summer to be sure of proper budget expenditures due to costs of equipment. Intern — February 14th Informed the Committee that the deadline for the hiring of a new intern is February 14tn We have received three applications thus far and I am eager to go though the hiring process and get an intern on board with the City. Cross Country Ski Trips Cross Country Ski Trips are on schedule. We have lent out our cross country ski equipment to three schools thus far and have two more schools to go. So far we have given 80 children the opportunity to experience cross country skiing at Ponderosa State Park. Without the help of Ponderosa State Park, the teachers and our equipment this would not be possible. I have attended two of the outings and have been happy with the smiling faces and enthusiasm of the children. Hiking Trips We are looking at conducting hiking trips starting in late May and running until late August. These trips will be conducted every Thursday evening leaving from the Rite Aid parking lot. We will load onto the Recreation Van and head to the Hiking location. Each trip should last about 2 hours and be beginner or intermediate level hikes. We are looking to impact adults and senior citizens. The price of the hikes should be free or a low amount for fuel and transportation. Bike Rodeo We are working closely with the McCall Police Department for this year's Bike Rodeo. The Bike Rodeo is designed to info children of the safety and proper use of bicycles within our community and surrounding area. I have been tasked with finding available equipment to be used at the Bike Rodeo that will be held in May.
