That the real estate annexed hereby being more particularly described above, shall be annexed to the City of Richmond, Indiana., and simultaneously therewith vxmed C-2 Community Business District, as defined crud described in Article 31 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Richmond, Indiana. SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect sixty (60) days after its passage and approval by the Mayor and publication as by law required. Paust, I4mbers of a00.'Iuon Council and Mrs. TrimbLe: The Ricbnond City Plan Camli.ssion conducted a public hearing on July 24, 1979, to present Annexation Ordinance No. 63-1979, to the public for their input. The Ordinance would annex approximately seven (7) acres of right- of-way for U.S. Highway 27 that adjoins the Belden. Corporation and the Elks Country Club. Presently, the Police Depslrtmnt has to travel outside its jurisdictional area in order to serve property that is situated within the Corporate Limits of the City. The pur- pose of this aimexation is to eliminate any potential problems that might result f-rora the Rid=d Police Department lacking jurisdiction in the area. A copy of the Police Chiefs letter recommending the.?nnPxation and a copy of a map depicting the area to be annexed, are attached.. No one spoke in opposition to the proposed annexation At the Flan Commission public hearing. The Flan Commission voted nine (9) to zero (0) to recommend the Annexation Ordinance be adopted. Annexation of this strip of land which is adjacent to the Relden property would facilitate traffic control at the entrance, and assist the Richmond Police Department in providing protection for this area.
