RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TEMPLE CITY RECOGNIZING THE NEED
FOR A COMPREHENSIVE CIVIL DEFENSE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, President Kennedy has indicated a need for
closer analysis of our civil defenses; and
WHEREAS, in light of current international tensions,
there is a greater need to provide for means of survival in
the event of hostilities which would endanger the civilian
populace; and
WHEREAS, certain responsibilities rest upon the City
Government to formulate an orderly plan to provide information,
communications, and necessary facilities to meet whatever needs
may arise in the event of an emergency;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY:
That the City Council of the City of Temple City does
hereby declare its intent to accelerate. the Civil Defense Pro-
gram within the City of Temple City through the efforts of the
Civil Defense Committee, to be coordinated with the directives
of the Federal Government and the programs now in existence and
formulated by the State of California and the County of Los
Angeles.
