HomeMy Public PortalAbout2/11/1992 executiveGREENCASTLE COMMON COUNCIL ® Executive Session February 11, 1992 The Greencastle Common Council met in executive session on Tuesday, February 11, 1992 at 6:30 p.m. at the Greencastle Middle School. On call of the roll the following members were shown to be present: Councilor Tom Roach, Councilor Jerry Calbert, Councilor Sue Murray, Councilor Charles Miles, Councilor Mike Rokicki. Also present were city attorney Larry Wilson and city engineer Ron Smith. Guests present included Ken Eitel, John O'Hair, and Cindy McCammack of Main Street Greencastle. Mr. Wilson indicated that General Government, like city hall, is an ineligible expenditure of Community Focus Funds and that the city is facing the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act; and therefore, may have to acquire property. Mayor Harmless noted that a review of all city structures will have to occur. Main Street Greencastle noted that if the opera house was to be part of a feasibility study MSG could allow up to sixty days for completion of the study. Discussion ensued concerning the following points: The feasibility study is expected to cost approximately $5,000.00 and that the Board of Works would take proposals for the project. It was noted that approximately $60,000.00 has been used for renovations at the present city hall site and that it would be included in the feasibility study. MSG indicated that the city's involvement in keeping the downtown viable could include things like parking, street cleaning, etc. and that MSG would go ahead with the historic preservation of the opera house.
