RE: Request to Approve Local Cultural Council Grant Program Application
On behalf of the library I would like to apply for a Local Cultural Council Grant. Local Cultural Council
Grants are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, which is the statewide cultural funding
network. LCC Grants support activities that contribute to the cultural vitality of the community as a
whole, including programs in the arts, humanities, and science. Information about the application

I am requesting funds for one program:
1. Wee the People Boston's workshop for parents and educators titled ABCs of Racism. This
program explores the barriers that prevent adults from talking about racism with kids and
identify strategies to begin the conversation about the complexities of race, racism, and racial

The application is due October 15, 2018.
The total cost for the program is$1,000.This is based on a quote from May 2018. 1 am requesting$800
from the LCC.
The library will contribute funds to the program to help cover the cost of the program and to promote
the program totaling$300 from the Charles Burke Fund.
Screenshots of the application are attached. Watertown's Cultural Council only accepts online
applications.
I request that the Trustees approve the submission of this grant to bring this program to Watertown.
