HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-27-2008THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MARCH 27, 2008 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, March 27, 2008, in the Community Room at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. In attendance were Board Members Vicki Robinson, Dian Lawson and Mary Jo Flood. Also attending were City Attorney Walt Chidester, Captain Terry Hopkins, Community Development Specialist Sharon Palmer, John Speidel and Ron Chappell. The following business was conducted: CALL TO ORDER Robinson called the meeting to order and noted for the minutes that all board members and legal counsel were present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Robinson made a request to the board to approve the minutes for the March 20, 2008 minutes meeting. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Robinson made request to the board to approve the claims for payment for March 28, 2008 in the amount of $151,890.63. She explained of that total $32,531.86 was paid to Wayne County Treasurer for the City's portion of the 911 Salaries and benefits; $26,344.23 to Rose City Shell for unleaded gas at the pump for February and $30,503.97 to the City of Richmond for an Intergovernmental agreement with Richmond Sanitary District for Finance Department salaries. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. BID AWARDS A. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Community Development Specialist Sharon Palmer to award the bid for the Consultant for the Transportation Enhancement Grant to Butler Fairman and Seufert. Lawson made a motion to approve with as second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. CONTRACTS A. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Community Development Specialist Sharon Palmer to approve Contract No. 112 -2007 with Butler, Fairman and Board of Works Minutes March 27, 2008 Page 2 of 2 Seufert for the Transportation Enhancement Grant Program not to exceed the amount of $135,750.00. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. B. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Community Development Specialist Sharon Palmer for the approval of Contract No. 35-2008 with Indianan Department of Transportation for the Transportation Enhancement Grant Program. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. ROAD CLOSURE REQUEST A. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Captain Terry Hopkins for a road closure on South I't Street from East Main Street down to the Starr — Gennett Building Area from 8:00 AM on Friday, April 25, 2008 until 6:00 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2008 for the "Earth Day Celebration" at the Starr — Genett Building in the Gorge. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. PUBLIC MARCH A. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Captain Terry Hopkins for the approval for the "Support the Troops March" to be held on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 3:00 PM to start at the Freedom Fountain in front of the City Building, then March to the New Life Church of the Nazarene with the help of the Richmond Police and Street Department. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. B. The "Take Back the Night" vigil to be held on Thursday, April 3, 2008 that was on the agenda has already been approved. HANDICAP PARKING SPACE DENIAL A. Denial of handicap parking space for Mary McComis at 431 South 14' Street has been taken under advisement. Flood made a motion to table this until next week with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned.
