HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-15-2019 Joint Meeting LDDC & Public Outreach Joint Meeting of the Landmarks & District Designation and Public Outreach Subcommittees Record of Minutes Page 1 of 2 Date: March 7, 2019 Location: Village Hall CALL TO ORDER, ROLL CALL Chairman Bortel called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Roll call was taken: Commissioners Derrick, Rapp, Schmidt, and Chairman Bortel were present. Commissioners Barvian, Hagen, Hendricksen, Lucas, and Olsen were absent. Also in Attendance: Jonathan Proulx, Director of Planning APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Schmidt made a motion to approve the LDDC and Public Outreach Joint Meeting minutes dated November 1, 2018. Seconded by Commissioner Rapp. Voice Vote. All in favor, 0 opposed. Motion carried 4-0. OLD BUSINESS Kendall County Meeting Summary No summary provided since no one attended the meeting. Historic Guidelines Manual No update. Preservation Watch List No update. Revisit Congregational Church Nomination Chairman Bortel stated that he has made the changes to the nomination that Mr. Lambert submitted. Mr. Bortel stated the church will be providing a couple new pictures for the nomination. Revisit BTD in March 2019 The commission discussed the BTD event they had last year and discussed how it could be changed for this year. Commissioner Derrick suggested having a brochure for the realtors that currently have properties for sale and send it to the realtor and property owners. NEW BUSINESS Inviting Plainfield Fire District to April LDDC Meeting Commissioners agreed to invite the Chief of the Plainfield Fire District to April LDDC meeting. Boutique Hotel on DesPlaines Street Mr. Proulx stated that house has been sold and the new owners are interested in tearing down the house and building a small hotel. Chairman Bortel indicated the house is a contributing structure and could be landmarked if the siding was taken off. Mr. Proulx stated the owner will need to go through the full demolition process. Commissioner Schmidt indicated the owner wants to build a small boutique hotel with 5-6 rooms. Commissioner Derrick asked if the Village has a plan for that area of the downtown area. Mr. Proulx stated in his opinion he could see condos in the area. Mr. Proulx indicated that the small house on the property will be retained. Commissioner Derrick stated the downtown district is more of a commercial district. Joint LDDC & Public Outreach Minutes November 1, 2018 Page 2 of 2 2019 Preservation Awards Chairman Bortel suggested the Village Public Works for the landscape award for the planters in the downtown area. 14930 S. Illinois Landmark Nomination No update. Celebration of Preservation Month in May Chairman Bortel stated the HPC will present at the May 20th meeting. Chairman Bortel asked for suggestions for their present. Commissioner Derrick volunteered to research some ideas. Mr. Proulx suggested to wait and see what the outcome of the April election will be. 15326 S. Joliet Rd. Mr. Proulx stated this is on the agenda, so the commission is aware that a COA application for a fence is forthcoming. Commissioner Derrick suggested staff to get the following together before the HPC: historic photos showing a fence, details on the proposed fence, and location of proposed fence. DISCUSSION No discussion. ADJOURN Commissioner Derrick made a motion to adjourn. Second by Commissioner Schmidt. Voice Vote: All in favor, 0 opposed. Motion carried 4-0.
