Leesburg Bus Routes Change to 45 Minute Timelines,
Beginning March 1, 2010
Increased Ridership and New Bus Stops Require Longer Route Times
Leesburg, VA (February 26, 2010) – Virginia Regional Transit (VRT) announced that the three
fixed‐route bus routes in Leesburg will change to 45‐minute timelines, effective Monday, March
1, 2010. The Leesburg routes affected are the Airport route, the Battlefield route and the
Trolley route. Currently, the buses operate on 30‐minute timelines.
The longer timelines for the buses are needed to accommodate the increase in ridership as well
as the addition of several new bus stops. The new stops include the Somerset Park apartments,
the Goddard School on Tavistock Drive, the Tavistock Farms townhomes and Loudoun County’s
new Park & Ride facility on Sycolin Road. In addition, VRT is restoring the stop on Old
Waterford Road at Rust Library that had been discontinued while the library was closed and
under renovation. Buses will continue to provide flag down service at any point along their
routes.
Informational flyers for each route with the new schedules will be available for riders on every
bus.
