Mayor Walter W. Parker called the November 22nd Special Called Council
meeting to order at 6 P.M. The following members of Council were present: Jack
Youmans, Whitley Reynolds, Walter Crawford and Jason Buelterman. City Manger Bob
Thomson was also present. Council member Jimmy Burke arrived during the discussion.
Mayor Parker said this meeting was called to discuss the purchase of a ladder
truck for the fire department. Chief Jimmy Brown told Council that funds had been set
aside for the purchase since the 1997 budget year. Brown said he had three quotes. 2002
Rosenbauer GPM 1250 75 foot Aerial - $406,000; 2002 Eone GPM 1250 75 foot Aerial
- $375,000; 2000 American LaFrance (23,000 miles) (Demo show truck) GPM 1500 75
foot Aerial - $310,000.
Brown said Method of Payment:
SPLOST (Cash in Bank) Approx. $161,903.22
Tybee Account (Cash in Bank) Approx. 100,000.00
TOTAL $261,903.22

Fire Department Budget 2003 Capital 43,000.00
After discussion between Council and the fire department Crawford moved to
approve the purchase of the 2000 LaFrance truck, plus $2,000 for one piece of equipment
needed. Burke seconded. Vote by Council was unanimous.
