HomeMy Public PortalAbout20030430SCMeeting1 1 1 Meeting of 2003 -04-30 Special Called Council Minutes Mayor Walter W. Parker called the April 30, 2003 Special Council meeting to order at 5:15 P.M. Council members present were: James Burke, Jack Youmans, Whitley Reynolds, Walter Crawford and Jason Buelterman. Edward Hughes, the City Attorney and Bob Thomson, the City Manager were present. Hughes gave Council an update on the retiree health insurance issue stating that the ordinance they have before them is for second reading. It reads that the City will contribute $278.00 the cost of HMO coverage to the employee only and anything else will be paid by the retired employee. The City will need an acceptable agreement with GMEBS, a notice must be sent to the eligible employees, and the City will be responsible for collecting any premiums and notifying GMA of any changes or deaths. Youmans moved to adopt this ordinance on second reading. Crawford seconded. Vote by Council was unanimous. This being the only item on the agenda Mayor Parker adjourned the meeting. Clerk of Council Mayor Walter W. Parker Page 1 of 1 1 1 AMENDMENT TO ORDINANCE § To clarify an incorrect graphical error contained in the newly amended Section 2-4-18(b), paragraph 5, 5. Employees of the City who are currently eligible for insurance benefits under the City's group medical coverage and who elect to accept the early retirement program effective May 1, 2003, shall be entitled to: (1) Continuing healthcare benefits for the retiree employee only at a cost not to exceed $278.00. The City reserves the right to terminate, discontinue, modify, decrease or otherwise limit the health benefit provisions included as part of the early retirement incentive program at anytime in the future. employee 1, 2003, The benefits stated herein are not available to any ineligible for the early. retirement program effective May or to employees eligible for the program but who elect not to participate.
