AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 2153-1965, as amended, AN ORDINANCE ELECTING TO
JOIN THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT FUND.
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, adopted Ordinance No.
2153-1965, entitled "An Ordinance Electing to Join the Public Employees' Retirement
Fund" on September, 7, 1965, and
WHEREAS, Section three thereof was amended by Ordinance No. 2866-1973, which extended
said Public Employees Retirement Fund to include certain elected officials, but there
is some uncertainty as to which elected officials are included by said amendment,
which uncertainty was expressed by the Public Employees' Retirement Board, which Board
recommended that such uncertainty be eliminated;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND IN WAYNE
COUNTY, IN THE STATE OF INDIANA:
SECTION ONE: Section Three of Ordinance No. 2153-1965, as amended by Ordinance No.
2866-1973, entitled " An Ordinance Electing to Join the Public Employees' Retirement
Fund" is now amended to read as follows: The following are declared to be covered
by the fund: all full time employees of the Civil City of Richmond, Indiana, including
full time elected public officials, and excluding policemen and firemen. It is hereby
determined that members of Common Council of the civil City of Richmond, Indiana, and
the Judge of the Richmond City Court are not full time employees and therefore are not
covered by the fund.
SECTION TWO: Other than as provided in Section One hereof, said Ordinance No. 2153-1965,
as amended by Ordinance No. 2866-1973, shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION THREE: This Ordinance, as an amendment to Ordinance No. 2153-1965, as amended
by Ordinance No. 2866-1973, shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval by the Mayor of the City of Richmond, Indiana, and upon approval of the
Board of Trustees of the Public Employees' Retirement Fund of Indiana.
