AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, MAKING
AMENDMENTS TO THE CARSON MUNICIPAL CODE TO UPDATE
LOCAL MODIFICATIONS TO FEES FOR BUILDING AND SAFETY
SERVICES
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to modify and update certain sections of the
Municipal Code that affect building fees.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 8108, subsection (A) of the Carson Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read in its entirety as follows:
"(A) Adding a paragraph at the end of Section 107.1 to read:
The building permit fee for structures required to have a methane gas control
system by Section 110.3 shall be one hundred twenty-five (125) percent of the fee
indicated in Table 1-A."
Section 2. Section 8111 of the Carson Municipal Code is hereby amended to read in
its entirety as follows:
"Notwithstanding the provisions of CMC 8100, the Building Code is hereby amended by
providing that the amount of each and every fee set forth in said Building Code, including
but not limited to the fees set forth in Section 107 and in Tables No. 1-A and 1-B of said
Building Code, shall be the fee set forth in the most current resolution of the City Council
establishing fees pursuant to said Building Code. Unless further modified by ordinance
of the City Council, fees shall be fifty (50) percent greater than those set forth in said
Building Code."
Section 3. Section 8113, Subsections (A), (B), (D), (F), (G), (I), (J), (K), (L), (M),
(N), (0), (P) and (Q) of the Carson Municipal Code are deleted in their entirety. Subsection (C)
is renumbered as (A); Subsection (E) is renumbered as (B); and Subsection (H) is renumbered as
(C). Subsection (E) is hereby amended to read in its entirety as follows:
"Adding a paragraph at the end of subsection 107.2 to read: An additional hourly
fee shall be paid to the Building Official for overtime plan check when requested
by the applicant and approved by the Building Official. For purposes of this
subsection, overtime shall mean hours worked outsid ^ of normal business hours
established at City Hall."

Section 4. Section 8114 of the Carson Municipal Code is hereby amended to read in
its entirety as follows:
"Notwithstanding the provisions of CMC 8100, the Building Code is hereby
amended by deleting Section 107.19."
Section 5. Except as expressly modified herein, the remaining provisions of Article
VIII, Chapter 1 shall remain unmodified and in full force and effect.
Section 6. If any section, subsection, subdivision, paragraph, sentence, clause of phrase
in this Ordinance, or any part thereof, is held invalid or unconstitutional, such decision shall not
affect the validity of the remaining sections or portions of this chapter or part thereof. The City
Council hereby declares that it would have passed each section, subsection, subdivision,
paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance irrespective of the fact that any one or
more sections, subdivisions, paragraphs, sentences, clauses or phrases may be declared invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance,
and shall snake a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of
the City Council at which the same is passed and adopted. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect thirty (30) days after its final passage and adoption, and within fifteen (15) days after
its final passage, the City Clerk shall cause it to be published in a newspaper of general
circulation and shall post the same in the manner required by law.

number of members of the City Council of said City is five; that the foregoing ordinance, being
Ordinance No. 08-1415 passed first reading on November 5, 2008, was duly and regularly adopted by
the City Council of said City at a regular meeting of said Council, held on the 18th day of November,
2008, and that the same was passed and adopted by the following roll call vote:
