Box 88 20178 703-777-2420 Metro: 703 478 -1821 FAX: 703- 771 -2727 www.leesburgva.gov The Town Council is in receipt of your letter on behalf of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors on March 14, 2011. While the Town Council is always open to dialogue between the County and Town, we do not feel it is appropriate to link the Town Council's request for School Resource Officer (SRO) funding to other issues. The Town Council restates its request to receive full funding of the School Resource Officers that are providing a service paid for in full by County tax dollars at all other Loudoun County Public Schools except those in Leesburg. If the County does not fund our request for an additional $166,000, then the Town will no longer be able to provide SRO's to the Loudoun County Public Middle and High Schools located in Leesburg effective July 1, 2011. The Town cannot afford to carry the financial burden of this important County service. It is the Town Council's hope that the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors will recognize that supporting this request will be the most cost effective manner by which this service can be provided for all County residents. We would also expect that public schools in Leesburg would receive the same SRO services as other parts of the County that are funded by county -wide local tax dollars.
