No. _ RESOLUTION APPOINTING ADVISORY BOARD IN
CONNECTION WITH THE COPS GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret (the "Borough") has applied for and anticipates to
receive a Federal Grant designed to increase the amount of police service or improve the quality
of police equipment known as the "COPS GRANT"; and
WHEREAS, one of the requirements of the COPS GRANT is to establish a citizen's advisory
board; and
WHEREAS, in contemplation of receipt of a grant award, the Mayor and Council wish to
establish the required citizen advisory board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
1. The following persons (individually the "Appointee" and collectively the "Appointees")
are hereby appointed in their capacity as a representative of the referenced organization or
position:
a.) Daniel Tarrant - Carteret Municipal Alliance Against Drugs and Alcohol
b.) Kathy O'Grady - Carteret High School Guidance Department
c.) Eric Chubenko - Carteret Housing Authority
d.) Ronald Bennett - Municipal Court Liaison
e.) Joseph Witkowski - President, Carteret Rotary Club
f.) William Toncic - Carteret Senior Citizens Groups
g.) Stephen Tardiff- Juvenile Aid Bureau
h.) John DuPont - Borough Council Liaison
2. The Appointees shall each serve for a period of one (1) year from the receipt of the
COPS GRANT or such other period as shall be mandated by the COPS GRANT program; in
the event that any Appointee during the term of his appointment shall cease to hold the position
or serve as a member of the organization referenced adjacent to their name in the preceding
section, then in that event the Appointee shall serve only until a replacement holding said
position or serving as a member of said organization is appointed.
3. The exclusive purpose of the advisory board shall be to advise the Carteret Police
Department and the Borough Council's Police Committee with regard to the use of the COPS
GRANTS and for such other purpose is required by the COPS GRANT.
4. In the event the Borough does not receive a COPS GRANT then the advisory board
shall cease to exist.

certified as a true copy of the original on
June 20, 1997.
