MOTION 2012 -003
I move to add the following to the Town's 2012 Legislative Positions Statement:
Identification of candidates by political party on local election ballots
The Town Council opposes legislation that would require candidates in local
elections to be identified on the ballot by political party. Local issues are best
addressed in a cooperative, non - partisan manner. The Town Council believes
that nothing is gained by making local elections partisan. Further, it will
negatively affect the ability of Federal employees to participate in the local
elections due to the restrictions of the Hatch Act.
