“Keep Leesburg Beautiful” Begins on April 3, 2010
Community Clean‐Up Activities Planned Throughout Month of April
Leesburg, VA (March 26, 2010) – Keep Leesburg Beautiful 2010 will kick off on Saturday, April
3, 2010 at the Ida Lee Park Demonstration Garden, with activities beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Leesburg Town Council member Dave Butler and Loudoun County supervisor Kelly Burk will
officially launch the Town’s annual community clean‐up and beautification effort with a short
opening day ceremony at 11:00 a.m. Following the ceremony, the Loudoun County Master
Gardeners will give presentations at the Demonstration Garden and the Leesburg
Environmental Advisory Commission will hold two rain barrel building workshops. There is a
fee required for the rain barrel workshops and pre‐registration is encouraged. For more

Other Keep Leesburg Beautiful events scheduled during April include:
• April 10 – Storm drain marking program. Events will take place in various residential
neighborhoods throughout Town.
• April 17 – Town of Leesburg Arbor Day will be commemorated with a tree planting at
the Utilities Lines Maintenance Building (1385 East Market Street).
• April 17 & 18 – Leesburg’s 20th Annual Flower & Garden Festival. Visit the Keep
Leesburg Beautiful booth on the Town Green. Volunteers will be distributing clean‐up
supplies and accepting registrations for the Community Challenge (see below).
• April 24 – School beautification projects. Planting and clean‐up projects at various
school locations.
• April 30 – Virginia Arbor Day will be celebrated with a tree planting at Robinson Park.
Donations of planting materials and volunteers for the school beautification projects on April

In addition to the scheduled events and activities, the Keep Leesburg Beautiful Community
Challenge will run during the entire month of April. All citizens, neighborhood groups,
community organizations and businesses are encouraged to get involved with Keep Leesburg
Beautiful by taking part in clean‐up or beautification efforts. Examples of Community Challenge
activities include picking up litter along public rights‐of‐way, marking storm drains, and planting
trees or other landscaping on public or HOA‐owned land. These events can occur at any time
during April. For litter pick‐up activities, the Town of Leesburg will provide safety vests, gloves
and trash bags. Participating groups will be recognized with Certificates of Appreciation at a
Town Council Meeting and listed on the Town website. Registration information and forms are
