MEDINA CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF APRIL 17, 2007
The City Council of Medina, Minnesota met in special session on April 17, 2007 at 6:13 p.m. in
the Medina City Hall. Mayor Crosby presided.
I. Call to Order
Members present: Johnson, Crosby, Smith
Members absent: Weir, Cavanaugh
Also present: City Administrator Chad Adams, City Engineers Tom Kellogg & Kevin
Hoglund, SRF Consultants Kristi Herman and Rick Brown, John Griffith
from MnDOT, and Planning Consultant Jennifer Haskamp
II. Work Session: Highway 55 Corridor
A. Environmental Assessment and Preliminary Design Concepts of CSAH 116 and
CR101 Interchanges
Rick Brown provided an overview of the Highway 55 Corridor environmental assessment
and preliminary design progress throughout Medina and from I-494 in Plymouth to CR19
in Medina. Interchange/intersection design concepts were presented for CSAH116/TH55
and CR101/TH55. Brown explained the concepts are projected for 2030 implementation.
Discussion was held on whether the interchange concepts will be covered/funded under
the environmental assessment contract/review since the assessment is projected to be
completed in fall 2007. Final mapping of the TH55 corridor is expected for completion
as well in fall 2007.
Discussion was held on the CR101 interchange concepts and its affect on future land use
planning. SRF will look at the option of aligning future interchange concepts with Sioux
Drive rather than west of Sioux Drive. Brown clarified that concepts being shown to
Council this evening are currently designated as "preferred alternatives."
III. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
