OCTOBER 17, 1949 The Council of Bel Harbonr Village met at the Village Offices in Bat Harbour at 7:45 P. bt.„ Monday, bctober 17, 1949. There were present: Messrs. Bonneau, Simons, Southerland, and Whittaker. Absents Mr. Graham, Jr., Also present were Mr. W. H. Webb, To;:n Manager, and -Mary Wetterer, Town Clerk. , c t < ... The minutes of the last m4eting.of the .council held September 2J, 1949, were read and approved. Mr. Southerland explained the new Cigarette Tax Law, to the council and on motion of Mr. Whittaker, seconded by Mr. Simons, Ordinancall9 entitled: c Ordinance #19 "AN ORDINANCE, LEVYING AND-IMPOSING-AN.EXCISE QE PRIVILEGE TAX:UPON THE SALE,,RECEIPT, PURCHASE, POSSESSION, CONSUMPTION, HANDLING, DISTRIBUTION, AND USE OF CIGARETTES'IN BAL HARBOUR VILLAGE, FLORIDA; ;PROVIDING FOR THE METHOD,OF COLLECTION; PROVIDING FOR THE EXPENDITURE OF THE FUNDS DERIVED THEREFROM;. PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF." ' • was unanimously approved and paesed. Mr. Webb explained that it would be more convenient to have the Council Meatings later in the month because of auditing cOnditions; OCTOBER 17. 1949. and upon motion of Mr: Simons,'seoonded by Mr. Bonneau, it was voted.that the regular meetings of the Council will be at 8:00 o'clock P. M. on the third Monday of each month. The councilmen present were then given their salary of oI $1.00 each for the past year. There being no further business before the meeting on motion duly made, seconded and carried the meeting adjourned. `. Graham, Jr., Simone, Southerland. Absent: Messrs. Bonneas-Jr. 'and Whittaker,. Also present were Mr. W. H. Webb, Town Manager and Mary Wetterer, Town Clerk. The minutes of the previous seating of October 17, 1949 were read and approved. Applications by Gunnar Lind and Pincher Motor Sales for renewal of Taxi Permits were submitted: Diseussion followed *the adviseabilit3r of having both -metered and unmetered service in the village. After consideration it was decided that in view of the fact that no serious complaints had been received it wou]dbe desitable to continue to license both types of service.' Applications by Morse Motors and Pincher -Motor Sales for U-Drive-It Permits were also submitted gnd on motion of Mr. Graham, seconded by W. Simons, the applications for both Taxi Permits and U-Drivs-It licenses were approved. " .'
