RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING
EXECUTION OF A REGIONAL CONTRIBUTION
AGREEMENT WITH THE TOWNSHIP OF EAST
AMWELL
WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the Borough of Carteret (the "Borough") has
previously directed the Mayor to negotiate a regional contribution agreement ("RCA")
with the Township of East Amwell; and
WHEREAS, RCA's are permissible to allow one municipality to transfer up to fifty
percent (50%) of that community's fair share housing obligations to another community;
and
WHEREAS, the Borough and the Township believe that the execution of an RCA to
transfer a portion of the Township's fair share housing obligations to the Borough is in
the best interest of both communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1 .) The attached RCA between the Borough and the Township is hereby approved.
2.) That upon approval by the New Jersey Council on Affordable Housing without any
conditions or restrictions; unless such condition or restriction is statutorily or regulatorily
required, the Mayor and Municipal Clerk are authorized to execute the attached RCA on
behalf of the Borough.
