Tiffin Planning and Zoning Commission October 3, 2001
A regular meeting of the Tiffin Planning and Zoning Commission was brought to order
by Chair Steve Berner. Members present: Steve Berner, Dave Shaffer, and Tina Walls.
Absent: Terry Richardson, and Melvin Reeve. Also present: Mayor Glenn R. Potter,
Councilmembers Jim Bartels and Karin Dils:
Motion Shaffer, second Walls to approve printed minutes and agenda. Ayes: Shaffer,
Berner, and Walls. Absent: Richardson and Reeve. Motion carried.
Commission reviewed conditional use permit from Curt's Racing Engerprises, Inc, Cleo
Beckler boated at 2506 340th Street, Tiffin from Johnson County CU01003. Operation
described as running a local racing team that races in Iowa and surrounding states,
including repair bent chasses and sheet metal repair and not including build or repair of
engines.
Motion Shaffer, second Walls to approve recommendation of conditional use permit for
Curt's Racing Enterprises, Inc. in Johnson County CU01003 as presented for
consideration from Johnson County. Ayes: Walls, Berner and Shaffer. Nays: None.
Absent: Richardson and Reeve. Motion carried.
No new information from Mick McGrew or Joe Johnston on any previous request made
before the Planning and Zoning.
Members worked on Comprehensive Plan. Next work will center on development
planning for the I-80 interchange area with potential for industrial or commercial use and
a also a plan for future recreation needs and projects for the future.
Impact of Coralville TIF plans on our school district was considered as most possibly
negative for the children of the community. Coralville proposals would deplete school
funds for the a building program that would solely benefit of Iowa City school children
with no portion provided to Clear Creek Amana students.
Motion Berner, second Walls to adjourn. Motion carried 8:30 p.m.
