Phase I of South King Street Trail Completed
Leesburg and Loudoun County Officials Celebrate with Ribbon Cutting
Leesburg, VA (April 15, 2010) – On Tuesday, April 13, 2010, Town of Leesburg and Loudoun
County officials celebrated the completion of Phase I of the South King Street Trail with a ribbon
cutting. Loudoun County contributed $1,050,000 in gas tax allocations towards the project,
which cost a total of $1,946,457.
The trail, which extends from Davis Avenue, under the Route 15 Bypass, to Governors Drive,
along the west side of South King Street, provides significantly improved pedestrian and bicycle
access for the southwest sector of Town. The remaining sections of the South King Street Trail,
extending from Governors Drive to Virts Corner, will be constructed as part of the multi‐phase
South King Street widening project. The next section is planned to begin construction later this
year, and will extend the trail from Governors Drive to Greenway Drive.
